Day 28. Passing the Torch

September 26, 2017

As I arrived at NRG Arena, in downtown Houston on Saturday, I was expecting to simply pick up some donated food, but what I saw was much more than that.

I saw the volunteers who had been serving first responders and sheltered families 3 meals a day for 2 weeks!  I saw tired feet and weary hands that needed a day of rest.

I sensed their excitement to "pass on the torch" to the next phase.  Ironically, we were just as excited to "receive the torch"!  We have been mucking, preparing and praying for these teams to arrive to help.

Not only are they coming next week, but we now have delicious, donated food to serve them.  What a blessing from the Lord and a testament to His goodness and faithfulness.

"As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace.

1 Peter 4:10
